Boxford Lathe

Sorry, This item has been sold

Boxford screwcutting/general purpose lathe. Model CSB serial number CSB 7315 36" lathe bed manufactured 1957.

I bought this a few weeks ago but really wanted a Metric lathe so bought a Metric lathe which makes this imperial lathe up for sale. It's never been used in the few weeks the lathe has been in my posession. The lathe is heavy but is easily dismantled for easy transportation in a good estate car or van.

Boxford are one of the premier machine tool manufacturers in the world and this lathe is a very robust machine with a proper heavy duty cabinet made for the lathe by Boxford.

The lathe bed is cast iron as are the saddle and cross slide etc. It has a lever operated tailstock lock and includes a Jacobs chuck for the tailstock. The lathe main chuck can run in either direction and the lathe saddle can also run in either direction meaning it can cut left hand as well as right hand threads. The cross slide is graduated with degrees for angled cuts on small components or the tailstock can be moved perpendicular to the lathe bed for cutting angles on longer parts between centres.

There is a coolant tank and drain from the table but no pump.

The lathe can be seen running.

Clearly because of the weight this will need to be collected.
